A Coming Bar or Bat Mitzvah has Moms Sweating-to Get in Perfect Shape?
“Every woman there is thinking, ‘Let’s see if I’m in better shape than her,’ ” says Hadassah Sabo Milner of Spring Valley, whose son Moshe will have his coming-of-age ceremony next month. “It’s a whole one-upping thing.”
Working out is just part of the get-ready plan. Bar mitzvah Botox, fillers, nose jobs, tummy tucks and neck liposuction have become routine as well.
“I’ve done eye lifts, for example — and I think some of the reason why moms want these changes is because they’re into the next phase of their lives,” says Dr. Melissa Doft, a plastic surgeon on the Upper East Side. “They’re not moms of a young child anymore. This is the next station of life, and it’s a natural time to reflect on how you look.”
