Elective Plastic Surgery Procedures Put on Hold in New York Hospitals Due to Coronavirus
“[Elective surgery] increases the number of people in the hospital, which increases the number of people gathering,” says Melissa Doft, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City. “But also, if something goes wrong, that’s a room in the hospital that’s being used. The fear is that we will have this potential outbreak and we’ll need all hands on deck in all available rooms. They’re trying to get as many people out of the hospital as possible.”
